Dmitry Alimov

Founder, Managing Partner

Internet investor and entrepreneur, Dmitry has 15 years of experience in private equity and venture capital investment in Internet and media.

Between 2007 and 2010, he worked as the Managing Partner of a leading venture fund ru-Net Ltd known for its investments in and In 2009, Dmitry co-founded Media Ltd (owner and operator of, which became the leader in the Russian online video market. In 2010, Dmitry originated and executed a transaction in which ru-Net Ltd invested in, currently Russian market leader in the collective buying space.  Dmitry played an active role in structuring the business and in raising further capital for growth. Prior to joining ru-Net, he was the Managing Director of Amedia - a leading Russian producer of television series and movies. 

In 2004 - 2005, Dmitry worked for Access Industries as Head of Media Investments in Russia and the CIS. In 2001 - 2002, Dmitry worked as First Deputy General Director, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the TV channel TNT and was also a member of Gazprom-Media Executive Committee. In 1998 - 2002, Dmitry was responsible for a number of venture capital and private equity investments as Vice President of the Sputnik Group, $1 billion private equity and venture capital fund. Dmitry began his career in the department of mergers and acquisitions of Renaissance Capital.

Dmitry received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2004, and in 1998 graduated with honors (summa cum laude) from the University of Missouri at St. Louis (USA), with a major in Business Administration (Finance). In 1991-1994, Dmitry studied applied mathematics and computer science in the Samara State Aerospace University. He is a member of the expert panel of IT Cluster at Skolkovo Fund.

Oleg Tumanov

Venture Partner, Member of the Investment Committee

Entrepreneur and manager with 24 years experience in major Russian and international companies, including 20 years in senior management positions.

Since 2007 – Oleg has worked as an entrepreneur in the Internet and media sectors and is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and co-owner of a leading Russian company in the field of online video Media. 

In 2005 – 2006, Oleg worked as a senior managing director for Access industries, a Russian holding company. He was a shareholder representative of the company on the boards or a member of the boards of directors on most companies of the holding. In 2001 - 2004 he was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Alfa-Bank. Prior to that, Oleg worked as chairman of the Board of Directors of Nikoil (2000 - 2001), Deputy Chairman of the Board and head of Uneximbank Bank Unexim Suisse in Geneva (1997 - 2000). In 1996 - 1997, Oleg led the Department of International Corporate Finance, U.S. investment bank Ladenburg Thalmann. Before that, he was Deputy Chairman of the Board Mosbusinessbank (1990 - 1994), responsible for all international and foreign exchange transactions. At the same time, Oleg was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the MICEX.

Oleg graduated from the Moscow Finance Institute, completing his master's thesis at the department of international monetary relations He participated in the senior management training program at the University of Pennsylvania - Wharton Business School (1995) and a training program at Harvard Business School (1995).

Gregory Finger

Member of the Investment Committee

Gregory has over 20 years of professional experience in private equity and venture capital. Gregory serves on the Board of Group Limited (LSE-traded) since 2006.

In 2005, Gregory Finger and Yuri Milner founded Digital Sky Technologies (DST), an investment fund which made a number of landmark investments in the Internet sector, including Facebook, Zynga, Twitter, Groupon, Group.

Between 1992 and 2005, Gregory was the head of the Moscow office of New Century Holdings, the largest Western financial investor in the Russian speaking and Eastern European markets. At NCH, Gregory worked with over 15 investment funds with his latest fund having $3bn in assets under management. In 1999, Gregory Finger and Yuri Milner and NCH Advisors started netBridge, a company which invested in the Russian Internet. It was one of the earliest investors in, which went public on the London Stock Exchange in 2010 with a $5.7bn capitalization. netBridge also invested in, Russian analogue of eBay.

In 1988, Gregory graduated with honors from Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering with a specialization in automated control systems.

Najam Kidwai

Advisory Board Member

Najam Kidwai is an experienced CEO, venture capitalist, entrepreneur, Board Director and private equity investor in technology, digital media, consumer & business internet and entertainment sectors in the US, UK, Middle East and India.

Since 2004, Najam is a General Partner of Edge Venture Capital, a US VC fund. From 2006 until 2009, he founded and led as CEO Real Time Content, a leading personalized video platform. From 1999 until 2004, Mr. Kidwai was a co-founder of Atomic Tangerine (an SRI International spin-off), a VC firm that invested in a number of companies in the US and Europe, SRI investments include the NASDAQ-listed Nuance Communications, one of the leading providers of voice and language solutions for businesses and consumers worldwide. 

Najam currently sits on the Advisory Boards of several companies including Cleartrip, Reqall, Omnitrol Networks, Quixey, Palringo, Inmobi, Global Logic and Sophia Search.

Holger Laubenthal

Advisory Board Member

Holger is an experienced finance professional with years of C-level experience in one of the leading global financial institutions, currently serving as President and CEO of GE Money Bank Russia.

Holger started his career at Price Waterhouse Germany in the Audit department, and then spent 3 years with Daimler-Benz in Financial Planning & Analysis and Commercial roles across Europe and Asia. After graduating from Harvard Business School, Holger joined GE in 2003 as the Operations Quality leader in the Swiss Consumer Finance business. In 2004, after becoming Black Belt certified, he assumed the role of Regional Sales Director for the branch business in Switzerland. In 2006, he moved to GE Money Germany, where he led the Auto and Retail Sales Finance P&L’s, and joined the Management Board of the bank in 2007. In 2008, he became Head of Strategy for GE Money (Global), and held the same position with GE Capital after GE Money and GE Commercial Finance were combined in early 2009. He assumed his current role as CEO of GE Money Bank Russia in October 2011.

Holger graduated with an MS in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin in 1997. He was also a Graduate Research Scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and holds an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.

Jason Downes

Advisory Board Member

Jason is an active venture investor with nearly 20 years of dedicated technology, media and telecom industry experience in venture capital, private equity and capital markets. Mr. Downes serves as consultant to the International Finance Corporation, where he previously held the position of Senior Investment Officer for 7 years.

Prior to joining IFC, Jason co-founded and served as General Director and Chief Investment Officer at ru-Net Holdings for 5 years, simultaneously serving on the Boards of Yandex, Ozon and Vested Development Inc. Prior to ru-Net, Jason worked in Equity and Debt Capital Markets teams for Moscow-based investment banks Renaissance Capital and United Financial Group. Earlier in his career, Jason held investment banking positions at UBS and Credit Lyonnais Securities in London and Paris. 

Jason graduated from The City University, London.

Pavel Alimov


Pavel has 10 years of experience in corporate finance, private equity and venture capital. 

Prior to joining Frontier Ventures in 2011, Pavel spent 5 years working in private equity divisions at Alfa Group,  Klever Asset Management and ICT Group, primarily focusing on direct investments in the consumer and FIG sectors in Russia and CIS.

Prior to 2008 Pavel worked in  the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in Moscow and London, where he advised major Russian and international clients on M&A and equity financings with a total value of over US$4bn. 

In 2005 Pavel graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Corporate Finance).
